St Vincent de Paul Society
Our parish St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is a very active one.
The SVP is inspired by Christ’s message to love our neighbour as ourselves, and so tries to assist individuals and families who are in any form of need to have hope, together with a sense of dignity, worth, well-being and peace of mind. Its Mission is to seek and find those in need, to help them in a spirit of justice and to tackle the causes of poverty where possible. One way of achieving this is through active members in local groups, through which we befriend and offer support, within our means, to any person in need.
The group is supported by regular collections within the parish (10 each year), which supports the work of our members. The group meets at the back of St Mary's Church each Monday evening at 8.00pm, and new members are always welcome.
Each year an outing for up to 100 pensioners is provided, followed by a Meal and Social Evening.
